- From our organization- click on the above link for information regarding COVID-19 and school closures.
What is distance learning?
- A way to connect with our students remotely while engaging them in work. Our main connection is through an online platform called Zoom, which allows people to have a meeting online via a computer, tablet or phone.
What is expected from students?
- Within your ability, join the class time at the scheduled time of your teacher, complete the work assigned for that week and use the office hours if you need any help.
What is expected from parents?
- We know there is a lot going on. Within your ability, check in with your student about their work. This website will outline the students' assignments. Should something come up that you aren't sure with, please email your student's teacher and/or the support stuff listed below.
Will students be graded on these assignments?
- Our main focus with distance learning is to support the students during this time with regards to their intellectual, social and emotional well being. Mr. B and Mr. Mac are working on a complete/incomplete system. HTH middle school teachers will check to see that students have completed required assignments, and they will follow up with students who may struggle to do so. We will seek a balance between being flexible and understanding of our students' diverse experiences, while also wanting to support students in doing as much work as they can, so they can continue learning.
Are we still doing projects?
- Our plan is to still do projects starting April 27th. More information about those projects will be added to this website leading up to April 27th.
What if a student needs more to do?
- The teachers have compiled a list of At Home Resources that students can explore and engage in. Plus, both the Humanities and Math/Science classes offer extension activities.
What if a student misses a Zoom call?
- A student can email their teacher and let them know the reason of their absence. Most importantly, we want to be in communication with the student to make sure they are doing well and understand their assignments.
When will we go back to HTMCV?
- We don't know. Our main concern is safety and when the High Tech High Organization makes a decision with regards to this question, an email will be sent out.
